Common questions about legal proceedings.
General answers to the questions we are most often asked about meetings, fees and litigation.
What is discussed at the first meeting?
At the first meeting we listen to your legal situation, review the documents you have and discuss your objectives. We give a general assessment of the ways in which the matter may proceed, the potential risks and the steps to be taken.
Which documents should I bring to the meeting?
Relevant contracts, correspondence, official notifications, court or enforcement documents and any payment records will help speed up the assessment. You can still arrange a meeting even if you do not have all the documents.
How are legal fees determined?
Fees are determined by taking into account the nature, scope and duration of the work and the effort it requires, and may not be lower than the Minimum Attorney Fee Tariff of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations. They are set out in a written attorney engagement agreement.
Is it mandatory to apply to mediation before filing a lawsuit?
In certain areas, such as employment, commercial, consumer and some tenancy disputes, applying to mediation before filing a lawsuit is required by law. We assess whether your dispute falls within this scope on a case-by-case basis.
How long does a lawsuit take?
The duration depends on the type of case, the workload of the court, stages such as expert examination and the hearing of witnesses, and whether an appeal is filed. No definite timeframe can be guaranteed, but an estimated timeline specific to your case can be provided.
Do you provide ongoing legal advisory services to companies?
Yes. We establish ongoing advisory relationships with companies for recurring needs such as contract review, employment law matters, debt collection and regulatory compliance.
Do you handle matters outside İzmir?
Depending on the nature of the matter, services may also be provided in proceedings before courts and enforcement offices outside İzmir. We assess this together at the first meeting.
Are the results of the calculators on this website definitive?
No. The calculators produce estimates for general information purposes only and do not replace legal advice. A definitive result for your specific situation requires a separate review of your case.
